Sony has launched the WH-1000XX The Collexion, a premium 10th anniversary model in its WH-1000X headphone lineup. The new headphones are available globally starting April 10, 2025.
Metal accents and vegan leather headband
The Collexion features metal accents and a vegan leather headband that took two years to develop. It has a wider, more cushioned headband and ergonomic earcups compared to the WH-1000XM6. The headphones use 30 mm drivers with a unidirectional carbon composite dome, which Sony says improves high-frequency reproduction and instrument separation. They support DSEE Ultimate and three 360 Reality Audio Upmix modes, and include a twelve-microphone array. Battery life is 24 hours, down from 30 hours on the WH-1000XM6.
The WH-1000XX The Collexion is priced at 649.99 USD (about $650) in the US, 849.99 CAD (about $619) in Canada, 549 GBP (about $736) in the UK, and 629 EUR (about $733) in the Eurozone. It is available in Black and Platinum finishes.
The Collexion marks the tenth anniversary of the WH-1000X series, which began with the MDR-1000X in 2016. Sony has not confirmed whether the reduced battery life compared to the WH-1000XM6 is due to the premium materials or additional features.
