MINTROCKET is releasing the final downloadable content for DAVE THE DIVER as a free update in early 2027. This expansion matters to players because it delivers a major crossover event with the Subnautica franchise without requiring an additional purchase. The studio aims to conclude the game's post-launch support with a collaboration that long-time fans have requested for some time.
MINTROCKET adds Proteus expansion and Leviathan encounters to game
The new content is titled the Subnautica 2 Content Pack and involves a partnership with Unknown Worlds Entertainment, the creators of the Subnautica series. MINTROCKET studio director Jaeho Hwang stated that the team wanted to create something meaningful for the game's final expansion. Players will control Dave and his cat Bancho as they travel interdimensionally to explore this new territory.
The expansion introduces a new area called Proteus, which features strange waters and unfamiliar creatures. Players will encounter valuable resources and new friends in need while navigating these mysterious depths. The journey also involves periodic confrontations with a perilous Leviathan, adding a layer of danger to the exploration. MINTROCKET confirmed that the update will include strange and exotic recipes to unlock during this adventure.
DAVE THE DIVER is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, iOS, and Android. This broad platform support ensures that most players can access the free content regardless of their preferred system. We have previously tracked the game's updates, including the DLC In the Jungle, which arrived with version 1.32. The Subnautica 2 Content Pack represents the last planned addition to the game's post-launch roadmap.
The free expansion concludes the major content updates for DAVE THE DIVER. Players can look forward to exploring Proteus and facing the Leviathan in early 2027. This release marks the end of the game's downloadable content cycle.
