Battlestate Games has released update 1.0.4.9 for Escape from Tarkov, introducing permanent XP bonuses tied to each game edition. The update also grants The Unheard Edition players the ability to equip any clothing regardless of faction.
Edition-specific XP bonuses detailed
The Unheard Edition receives a 20% squad-wide XP bonus. Edge of Darkness owners get a 12% XP bonus that does not apply to the squad. Left Behind players receive a 7% bonus, while Prepare for Escape players get a 9% bonus.
The Unheard Edition is priced at €250 EUR (about $291). The update began installing on May 19, 2026.
The update has sparked community backlash. Some Edge of Darkness owners feel the edition is being treated as second-tier, despite being a long-standing supporter of the game. Player comments on social media express frustration with Battlestate Games for what they perceive as a snub.
