PC modder luki-1 released ArkWeb, a project that lets players swing as Spider-Man through Batman: Arkham Knight. This mod matters because it merges two distinct superhero universes into a single playable experience. Users can now control Spider-Man using his original physics while exploring Gotham City.
Open-source mod merges two superhero universes by running both games simultaneously
ArkWeb functions as an open-source PC mod hosted on GitHub. It requires Steam copies of both Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Batman: Arkham Knight to run. The modder runs the Spider-Man game in the background to handle character rendering and movement.
The project runs on Spider-Man Remastered version 4.0630. It imports Gotham's collision data from Arkham Knight to define walkable surfaces. Players use Arkham Knight's combat system, with Spider-Man mimicking Batman's attack poses. Wall running and swinging rely on the source game's physics engine.
The creator notes several technical limitations in the experimental build. Gotham's collision data can appear hollow in certain areas. Swinging too fast into unloaded districts may leave gaps in the environment. Spider-Man can look dark in places due to lighting mismatches with New York's time of day.
ArkWeb remains an experimental mod rather than a polished commercial release. It demonstrates how PC hardware can run two games simultaneously to create new gameplay loops. Players interested in cross-universe crossovers can test the mod at their own risk.
