Games Workshop is expanding the playable roster for Warhammer 40,000 by bringing its elite Custodes forces into the current 41st millennium setting. This shift matters because it allows players to use recently retired Horus Heresy miniatures in the main game without needing to hunt for discontinued parts. The company opens pre-orders for these new and reissued sets on October 3, 2026. Buyers who prefer the Custodes aesthetic can finally field them in the current era rather than waiting for official re-releases.
New miniatures and reissued Horus Heresy units join Warhammer 40,000 roster
The new product lineup features four distinct sets designed for the Adeptus Custodes faction. The Aquilon Terminator Sodality set includes six miniatures in Aquilon Terminator armor. These models come with a variety of weapon options, including Lastrum Storm Bolters, Solerite Power Claws, Solerite Gauntlets, Adrathic Combi-Destructors, and Flamers. Players can configure their squad members with different loadouts to suit their tactical needs.
Heavy support and fast attack units also receive new options in this release. The Telemon Heavy Dreadnought set provides a single massive walker armed with a Power Fist-Caestus, an Adrathic Destructor, an Arachnus Assault Cannon, and an Iliastus Accelerator Culverin. For mobile units, the Dawneagle Jetbikes set includes two Custodians riding jetbikes. These riders can be equipped with Lastrum Storm Bolters, Adrathic Weapons, Arachnus Cannons, and Corvae Las-Pulsars. The Pallas Grav-Attack is also available as a separate vehicle set.
Games Workshop is re-releasing several recent Custodian sets from The Horus Heresy in new packaging. These units include Shield-Captains, Custodian Guard, and Venatari units. The release also covers Contemptor Dreadnoughts that can be assembled as either Achillus or Galatus models. Players can also find Coronus Grav-Carriers and Caladius or Caladius-Annihilator Grav-Tanks in these re-released packs. This move officially integrates these forces into the Warhammer 40,000 ecosystem.
The release is supported by new core rules and starter sets. The Codex: Adeptus Custodes will be available in standard, collector's, and limited editions. A new Adeptus Custodes Command Pack includes 84 reference cards, 16 themed black dice, and The Battle for the Signus Cluster: Assault on Kol tactical journal. For new players, the Combat Patrol: Adeptus Custodes set contains a Shield-Captain, six Custodian Guards, three Venatari, and a Contemptor Dreadnought. These components provide a complete entry point for the faction.
The novel Cold Covenant by Peter Fehervari is also part of this release cycle. Pre-orders for the book open on October 7, 2026. The special edition features foil details on the cover, a red ribbon bookmark, red-painted page edges, and the author's signature. Regular editions are also available for readers who do not need the collector items. This completes the package of lore and hardware for the Custodes faction.
