IO Interactive has confirmed that its new IP, Project Fantasy, is in a very healthy place and remains fully financed. The studio stated the project is amazing despite previous rumors suggesting financial difficulties. CEO Hakan Abrak noted that players waiting for this title can rest easy as development continues without interruption.

The game is described as an online fantasy RPG built from the ground up with deep personal roots in the genre. Developers drew inspiration from Fighting Fantasy books and tabletop gaming experiences to create a shared world goal. The project aims to combine creativity, imagination, and building a world together for a great game experience.

IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak declined to reveal the publishing partner for Project Fantasy at this time. He also did not confirm or deny whether Xbox is involved in the project according to his recent interview. The studio concluded its publishing collaboration with Build a Rocket Boy for MindsEye before focusing on this new title.

The announcement comes as part of IO Interactive's broader development update regarding their software portfolio. Insider Gaming and The Game Business reported on the studio's status and future plans for the project. No specific pricing or release window has been disclosed for Project Fantasy at this stage.
