MercurySteam, the studio behind Metroid Dread, has released a new action-adventure game called Blades of Fire. The title launched on May 14, 2026, and has already earned an 82% positive rating on Steam.
Unique forging mechanic sets it apart
Blades of Fire features a unique forging mechanic that lets players craft their own swords. The game is available on PC via Steam and is listed as Playable on Steam Deck.
The standard price is 40 USD (about $40.00). Until May 21, a 25% discount brings the price to 30 USD (about $30.00).
Eurogamer deputy editor-in-chief Alexander Bohn-Elias said the game "came out of nowhere and ended up being much better than anyone dared expect." MercurySteam has not announced any additional platforms or future content.
