This move addresses the gap between high-end performance and the budget constraints of many portable gaming enthusiasts. The company is shifting resources from CPU core count to GPU power delivery to improve gaming performance at a lower cost.
GPD shifts resources from CPU cores to GPU power for better value
The new configuration relies on the AMD AI MAX+ 388 mobile APU. GPD dropped the processor core count from sixteen to eight to redirect thermal and power headroom toward the integrated graphics. This variant pairs the chip with 32GB of LPDDR5 memory running at 8,000MT/s and a 1TB NVMe SSD for storage.
