Lyall has released version 3.0.3 of MGSHDFix, a mod that addresses performance issues in Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 on the Steam Deck. The update fixes a regression that caused high battery drain.
Battery drain drops significantly
According to SteamDeckHQ, the mod reduces power consumption significantly. In the opening area of MGS 2, battery drain dropped from 16W to 12W. For MGS 3, the improvement is even larger, from 16W to 9W. The update also adds support for 16:10 resolutions, enabling full-screen play on the Steam Deck.
The mod is available for download from GitHub. Installation requires setting a launch option in Steam.
Lyall has not commented on future updates or whether other games will receive similar fixes.
