MGSHDFix 3.0.3 Fixes Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 Steam Deck Battery Drain

MGSHDFix 3.0.3 fixes a performance regression on Steam Deck, reducing battery drain from 16W to 12W in MGS 2 and from 16W to 9W in MGS 3, plus adds 16:10 resolution support.

Lyall has released version 3.0.3 of MGSHDFix, a mod that addresses performance issues in Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 on the . The update fixes a regression that caused high battery drain.

Battery drain drops significantly

According to SteamDeckHQ, the mod reduces power consumption significantly. In the opening area of MGS 2, battery drain dropped from 16W to 12W. For MGS 3, the improvement is even larger, from 16W to 9W. The update also adds support for 16:10 resolutions, enabling full-screen play on the Deck.

The mod is available for download from GitHub. Installation requires setting a launch option in Steam.

Lyall has not commented on future updates or whether other games will receive similar fixes.
