Riot Games has announced a major update for League of Legends scheduled to arrive on May 13, 2026. The patch, identified as version 26.10, introduces significant changes to the game's balance and features. This release follows an announcement made on May 5, 2026, giving players a week to prepare for the new content.
The update brings nine champion changes to the competitive scene alongside the debut of a new Arena mode. In this specific format, six teams will compete with three players each. Riot is also introducing Gluttonous Greaves, a new Darkin-themed omnivamp boot item designed to offer offensive capabilities for fighters and assassins.
Balance adjustments target both items and runes to address recent performance trends. The Deathfire Touch rune is receiving a nerf after being strengthened in a prior micropatch. Additionally, the Gluttonous Greaves item is being adjusted because it has become too strong for its intended roles, particularly outside of mid lane.
Matt Leung-Harrison from Riot Games explained that the Deathfire rune was looking too strong in laning cases despite audience feedback. He noted that the new boots have picked up a nice user base among fighters and AD assassins who lacked other offensive boot options. The team believes the boots are currently too strong in both non-mid roles and mid lane with the boot upgrade.
Riot Games has not confirmed specific pricing details for any associated content or skins related to this patch. The company also has not released an official launch window beyond the general May 13 date for the global release.
