GAME PERFORMANCE

Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is seeing an unexpected boost in visual fidelity thanks to unofficial 5 support. Gamers with compatible hardware can now access a rendering technology that the developer claims restores the game’s original artistic vision. This development matters because it offers a path to enhanced lighting and skin detail that the base game currently lacks.

Modders enable neural rendering on RTX 40 and 50 series GPUs

The technology relies on 3D-Guided Neural Rendering to overhaul lighting and add shadow and skin detail on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Modders have managed to get DLSS 5 running on numerous unsupported titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 by using leaked DLL files. This unofficial implementation currently allows gamers to run the early-in-development technology on RTX 40-series and RTX 50-series GPUs.

Daniel Vavra, the game’s director, said the 3D neural rendering technology restored his game’s original artistic vision. He called the new DLSS 5 implementation a restoration of the game’s original artistic vision rather than a distortion. Vavra argues that the technology enhances lighting, shadows, and skin detail without altering underlying geometry.

DLSS 5 is currently only supported on NBA 2K27 and is not officially supported on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Detractors argue the technology overpolishes characters in pursuit of photorealism. We looked at the last Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 update while tracking these visual changes.

The current state of DLSS 5 in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 remains unofficial and dependent on leaked files. Official support is limited to NBA 2K27 at this time. Players seeking this specific visual upgrade must rely on community modifications for RTX 40 and 50 series cards.
