Bandai Namco released the 2.001 update for Code Vein 2 on September 8, bringing significant content expansions and technical improvements to the game. This patch matters to players because it unlocks the Mask of Idris DLC and introduces new post-game modes that extend the lifespan of the title. Buyers who have completed the main story can now access additional narrative content and challenge themselves with harder boss fights.
Patch 2.001 unlocks Mask of Idris DLC and introduces post-game exploration modes
The update introduces Jadwiga as a fully playable partner character, expanding the roster beyond her previous role as a summon. Players can now engage in combat using her greatsword style, which adds variety to team compositions. The Steam version of the game also receives new performance features, including support for NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex to improve responsiveness.
New gameplay modes form the core of this release, starting with Age of Harmony. This mode allows players to explore the world after finishing the game and includes short episodes featuring each partner. Clearing these episodes rewards players with a new blood code. The Trial of Remembrance mode lets players re-fight bosses they have already defeated, with a reward exchange system tied to these encounters.
Bandai Namco also added a Story-Focused Mode to make boss battles and exploration more accessible for those who prefer a easier experience. A Legacy Character Shader option lets players switch to anime-style visuals reminiscent of the original Code Vein. The patch includes extensive balance adjustments that buffed numerous Weapon, Magic, and Support Formae to improve gameplay variety. Performance optimizations reduced the processing load for NPC and enemy movement to smooth out gameplay.
