Vivo X500 Gets Pro Camera Specs: Lytia-828 Main, 64MP Telephoto

Owen Carter 2 min read

Vivo X500 gets a 1/1.28- inch Sony Lytia- 828 main sensor and 64MP telephoto, positioning it as a pro camera flagship at a lower price.

Vivo is shifting the baseline for its X500 smartphone by equipping the standard model with camera hardware previously reserved for its premium Pro variants. This move matters because buyers who want flagship-level photography no longer need to spend extra for the top-tier Pro Max version. The company aims to deliver pro camera capabilities at a more accessible price point.

Standard model gets flagship sensors and 4K120 video recording

The Vivo X500 serves as the new entry point in the X500 lineup, bridging the gap between the previous generation X300 and the high-end X500 Pro Max. Product manager Han Boxiao revealed these specifications through Weibo teasers, confirming that the device targets photography enthusiasts who demand high performance without the highest price tag. Vivo positions this model as a pro camera flagship that undercuts the cost of its larger siblings.

Specifications

  • Main Camera Sensor: 1/1.28-inch Sony Lytia-828
  • Main Camera Stabilization: CIPA 5.5
  • Telephoto Camera: 64-megapixel Sony Lytia-610 periscope
  • Telephoto Stabilization: CIPA 5.5
  • Telephoto Lens Support: 200 mm teleconverter

At the core of the camera system is a 1/1.28-inch Sony Lytia-828 main sensor, which marks an upgrade from the 1/1.4-inch sensor found in the predecessor X300. Vivo has also replaced the 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with a 64-megapixel version based on the Sony Lytia-610. Both the main and telephoto cameras feature CIPA 5.5-level image stabilization to ensure sharp shots in low light or during movement. The telephoto lens supports a 200 mm teleconverter for distant subjects.

The device supports 4K120 video recording, adding high-frame-rate capabilities to its multimedia toolkit. Rumors suggest a redesign with a smaller camera ring inside a plateau, though Vivo has not officially confirmed this aesthetic change. Vivo confirmed that the standard X500 now includes the high-end sensors and stabilization levels of its Pro predecessors. Buyers can expect flagship camera performance in a device that targets a lower price bracket than the Pro Max variant.
