Sony Launches Free Live TV App on PS5 with 100+ Channels
CONSOLES

Sony Interactive Entertainment is bringing free, ad-supported live television to users in the United States. This app release gives console owners a new way to watch news, sports, and movies without a cable subscription or separate streaming device. The service launches today, August 31, 2026, directly within the console's existing interface.

Sony Pictures Television app integrates with PS5 Media section

The application, developed by Sony Pictures Television, integrates into the PlayStation 5 Media section. Users can access the content through the standard system navigation without leaving the console environment. This integration positions the app as a central hub for casual viewing alongside games and other media.

The service offers more than 100 channels of live content. The lineup includes news, sports, movies, TV shows, and anime. Sony Pictures Television manages the app, leveraging its existing library of entertainment properties to populate the feed.

Featured channels include Lionsgate, Crunchyroll, FOX, and HISTORY. The app also provides a growing selection of on-demand entertainment. Users can browse this content directly from the PS5 user interface. We looked at What Goes Up co-op building game earlier while tracking Sony interactive entertainment launches.

The Live TV app is available for free with advertisements. It is currently limited to the United States market. Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed the launch date and regional availability in its official statement.
