Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 with AMD Ryzen AI and 96 GB LPCAMM2 Launches in Australia

Lenovo has started selling AMD-based ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 laptops in Australia earlier than expected. The company initially planned to release these models in June, but they are now available. The Intel versions launched in March and remain on sale.

First AMD laptop with LPCAMM2 memory

The ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 is the first AMD laptop to use LPCAMM2 memory. It supports up to 96 GB of RAM at 8,533 MT/s. Processor options include the Ryzen AI 5 Pro 440, Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450, and Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470. Buyers can add an Nvidia RTX Pro 500, 1000, or 2000 Blackwell GPU. The display can be a 1800p OLED panel with 500 nits brightness and a 30-120 Hz variable refresh rate. Storage choices include PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0 SSDs, and battery options are 60 Wh or 90 Wh.

In Australia, AMD-based models start at 2,979 AUD (about $2,132). Intel-based models start at 3,529 AUD (about $2,526). These prices are from Lenovo's configurator.

The ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 replaces the Gen 4 model. It offers a significant memory upgrade with LPCAMM2, which is a first for an AMD laptop. The AMD versions are priced lower than their Intel counterparts, giving buyers a more affordable option for a mobile workstation.

Lenovo has not confirmed pricing or availability for other regions yet.
