Mechrevo is introducing a new gaming laptop that pairs an unusual processor with an graphics card, a combination that challenges the typical hardware pairings found in the market. This setup matters because it offers a specific balance of CPU and GPU power in a chassis designed for portability rather than raw bulk. Buyers looking for a thin device that can handle modern games without sacrificing processor capability may find this configuration worth considering.

Thin gaming laptop pairs Zen 5 APU with RTX 5060 for 1080p play

The device, called the Phenom 15 Air, runs on the AMD Ryzen 7 449 APU, which uses a mix of Zen 5 and Zen 5c cores but lacks a dedicated NPU. It pairs this processor with the Nvidia RTX 5060 Laptop GPU and the integrated Radeon 860M graphics unit. This hardware trio defines the system's core computational and visual capabilities.

Specifications

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 449 (Zen 5 + Zen 5c, no NPU)
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 5060 Laptop GPU
  • iGPU: Radeon 860M
  • Display: 15.3-inch QHD OLED, 240Hz, 100% DCI-P3
  • RAM: 24GB LPDDR5X

The laptop features a 15.3-inch QHD OLED display that supports a 240Hz refresh rate and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Inside, it carries 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB SSD for storage. The chassis measures 18.75mm in thickness and weighs approximately 1.6kg, keeping the profile slim for a gaming machine.

Mechrevo claims the dual-fan cooling system allows the CPU to sustain up to 85W of performance. This thermal headroom enables the system to handle most AAA games at 1080p resolution on high visual settings. The laptop includes three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, one USB4 port, WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 for connectivity.

The Phenom 15 Air launches in China with a single configuration priced at 11,499 CNY (around $1,705). It is currently available only in this region, and it remains unclear if Mechrevo will release this model globally.
