Infinity Ward has adjusted the core movement mechanics in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta to slow down the pace of combat. This change targets players who rely on aggressive, high-speed flanking strategies by removing the ability to sprint while aiming from the start. The shift aims to restore a more classic feel to the battlefield where positioning matters more than raw speed.

Infinity Ward moves sprint to a perk and reduces slide distance

The developer released these adjustments as part of the patch notes for Weekend 2 of the beta. Infinity Ward stated that the goal is to improve the overall pace of combat by forcing players to make more deliberate movement choices. They moved the Tactical Sprint ability to the Blood Rush Perk for those who still prefer a faster playstyle.

The update reduces Tactical Sprint speed by 4 percent and cuts slide distance by 10 percent. Slide speed has also been reduced by 9 percent, and total stamina was lowered by 8 percent. These changes make it harder to maintain momentum after sliding or sprinting, which directly impacts how players engage in close-quarters firefights.

Infinity Ward increased the time-to-kill by tuning weapons to improve durability without changing base health values. Aim assist impact has been reduced globally for Warzone to balance the playing field between input methods. The team also increased all Killstreaks by one to reduce spam and added Battle Hardened to Hardpoint spawn protection.

We looked at the last Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 update earlier while tracking the beta, and several of the same balance and stability themes came up in this round of changes. The current patch focuses heavily on movement restrictions and weapon tuning to create a more tactical experience for players.
