Sony entered the budget OLED market with the Bravia 6, a television designed to offer core gaming features at a lower price point. This move targets buyers who want high-quality picture performance without the premium costs associated with Sony's top-tier models. The Bravia 6 sits below the Bravia 8 and 7 II series, positioning it as an accessible entry into 4K OLED technology.

Sony targets budget OLED buyers with full HDMI 2.1 support

The display relies on a standard 4K video processor and the Pentonic 800 system chip. It omits the advanced XR Processor and the anti-reflective coating found in more expensive sets. The TV runs on Google TV with Gemini integration, providing a familiar smart interface for users.

Bravia 6 Specifications

  • Panel Type: 4K OLED
  • Processor: Standard 4K video processor / Pentonic 800 system chip
  • HDMI Ports: 4x HDMI 2.1 (full-bandwidth)
  • Gaming Support: 4K 120Hz, VRR, ALLM
  • HDR Formats: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG

Gaming enthusiasts will find four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports on the back. These ports support 4K 120Hz gaming, Variable Refresh Rate, and Auto Low Latency Mode. The set also handles major HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG.

Audio output uses traditional full-range drivers and tweeters instead of the Acoustic Surface Audio found in higher-end models. The system supports native decoding and passthrough for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Peak brightness remains lower than that of Sony's premium OLEDs, which is expected for this price tier.

Pricing starts at $1,300 for the 48-inch model. The 55-inch version costs $1,500, while the 65-inch model is priced at $2,000. Larger screens cost $3,000 for the 77-inch and $4,000 for the 83-inch option. This $2,000 price for the 65-inch model places it in direct competition with the LG B6.

We looked at the Bravia 6 launch while tracking Sony's strategy for entry-level OLEDs. The Bravia 6 confirms that Sony is expanding its OLED lineup to capture value-conscious consumers. The TV offers essential gaming specs and solid HDR support at a competitive price.
