Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons shifts the franchise away from the turn-based tactics that defined Baldur's Gate 3. This change matters to players who prefer fast-paced action over strategic grid movement. The game offers a purely single-player experience focused on real-time combat.

Invoke Studios reveals real-time combat and open-world exploration for new D&D title

Invoke Studios developed the title for a third-person open-world perspective. Players control Kaatri, a veteran warrior trapped in the dark realm of Darkon. Her journey is guided by Tasha, a powerful archmage and villain from the D&D lore.

The combat system emphasizes fluid spellcasting and quick decision-making. Unlike the turn-based battles of previous D&D games, this title requires constant movement and reaction. The developers designed the mechanics to showcase versatility in a fast-paced environment.

The narrative follows a pre-written story with fixed outcomes. Players will not encounter branching paths that lead to good or bad endings. The setting remains a grim Domain of Dread in the Shadowfell, providing a darker tone than the Sword Coast.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons made its first gameplay appearance at Gamescom. The reveal highlighted the shift from tactical RPG elements to action-adventure gameplay. The game stands as a distinct entry in the Dungeons & Dragons video game catalog.
