A teardown of the Sigma BF camera reveals its aluminum unibody construction, full-frame sensor, and glued rear display. The minimalist design poses repairability challenges as Sigma does not sell spare parts.

A teardown of the Sigma BF camera reveals its aluminum unibody construction and layered internal design. The camera is built around a full-frame sensor housed in a minimalist chassis. The rear display is glued in place similarly to a smartphone and can be removed with heat.

Teardown shows glued display and complex internals

The teardown, performed by Kolari, shows that the chassis is milled from a single block of aluminum. A rubber cover on the bottom hides ten screws. After removing those screws and disconnecting a cable, the display can be lifted off. Inside, numerous small boards, ribbon cables, and screws must be removed to access the mainboard and the full-frame sensor.

The Sigma BF is priced at 2199 USD (about $2,199).

The camera features a large touchscreen, touch-sensitive buttons, and a small OLED secondary display for settings. Its design and operation differ from competitors like the Panasonic Lumix S9. Sigma does not currently sell spare parts directly to end users, which could complicate self-repairs.

The teardown video was published by Kolari on YouTube. Sigma has not confirmed plans to offer spare parts or repair support for the BF.
