Blaze and Retro Games Ltd have announced two new clamshell handheld gaming devices. The THEC64 Handheld and The Spectrum Handheld are designed to bring classic home computer experiences to a portable format.
Both devices share identical internal hardware
The THEC64 Handheld comes in Retro Beige with tactile plastic keys. The Spectrum Handheld is finished in Classic Black with rubber keys. Both devices share the same internal hardware: a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 256MB of RAM, a 4.3-inch 840×480 IPS display, and a 2000mAh battery rated for over three hours of use. Connectivity includes USB-C for charging, a USB-A port for external keyboards, and a MicroSD slot. Each handheld comes with 25 preloaded games and supports multiple system configurations.
Pre-orders are open now, with a launch scheduled for October 2026. The standard edition is priced at 109.99 GBP (about $148) in the UK, 129.99 USD (about $130) in the US, and 129.99 EUR (about $152) in the EU. A Collector's Edition is also available, limited to 2000 units each, priced at 129.99 GBP (about $175), 149.99 USD (about $150), and 149.99 EUR (about $175).
These handhelds target retro gaming enthusiasts who want to play classic C64 and ZX Spectrum titles on the go. The devices aim to replicate the look and feel of the original computers while adding modern conveniences like a rechargeable battery and a color display.
