Gearbox Software has announced the Raid Boss 2 content update for Borderlands 4, releasing on May 28. The update introduces a new raid boss encounter featuring Subjugator and Thol the Invincible.
New raid boss encounter and loot details
Patch 1.7 brings new rewards, raises the UVHM level cap to 7, and adds a Shared Character Progression toggle. A new Pearlescent weapon, the Jail-Broken Gatling (Order SMG), increases fire rate, damage, recoil, and the chance to fire additional projectiles per hit. Four new Legendary items are included: Lockjaw (Torgue Assault Rifle) fires explosive projectiles that bounce between targets; Shammy Kablammy (Tediore Pistol) douses enemies in Moonshine and burns them on explosive reload; Flak Cannon (Vladof Heavy Weapon Ordnance) shreds enemies with bullets; and Collector (Order Shield) offers huge capacity and quick recharge with a longer delay. Five new Class Mods are added, with a sixth planned for Q3 2026. A new Firmware, Active Fire at Tier 3, makes a full-charge shot deal bonus damage.
The update will be available globally on May 28, 2025.
This content update continues Gearbox's support for Borderlands 4, adding endgame challenges and loot. The new raid boss and increased level cap aim to extend replayability for veteran players.
