Asymmetric multiplayer tag game expands to original Nintendo Switch

FREE STYLE developed the game as an asymmetric multiplayer tag title where players hunt or hide in a world inspired by traditional Japanese legends. The game supports up to eight players in both online and local matches. Players can choose from six modes including Quick Match, Room Match, Join Friends, Single-Player, Local Party, and Split-Screen. These options let groups play together regardless of their preferred style or location.

  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch
  • Release Date: August 6
  • Previous Release: October 9, 2025 (Japan only)
  • Multiplayer Support: Up to 8 players (Online and Local)
  • Game Modes: Quick Match, Room Match, Join Friends, Single-Player, Local Party, Split-Screen

The game launches worldwide on August 6. It previously launched in Japan for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 9, 2025. Pre-orders are available now through the Nintendo eShop. The worldwide release brings the title to the original Nintendo Switch alongside the Switch 2.

FREE STYLE describes the game as an eerie world where players dive in solo or team up with friends. The core loop involves thrilling cat-and-mouse gameplay within a monster-infested environment. The asymmetric design means some players chase while others seek. This structure supports the eight-player capacity for both online and local sessions.

The global release completes the platform rollout for OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek. Players on both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch can now access the game via the Nintendo eShop. The title offers multiple modes for solo or group play. The release brings the Japanese-exclusive Switch 2 launch to a worldwide audience.
