Playstack has locked in an August 20 launch date for Mortal Shell 2, giving fans of the genre a concrete target for the sequel's release. This announcement resolves the wait for players who have been tracking the project since the open beta phase. The fixed date allows buyers to plan their library updates and hardware checks ahead of time.

Playstack confirms launch date and minimum PC hardware requirements

The sequel builds on the first game's foundation by switching to Unreal Engine 5 for its visuals and performance. Playstack describes the new experience as faster and more intense, with weapons offering expanded upgrade paths. The game retains its Souls-like identity while introducing open world exploration elements to the traditional formula.

PC players need to meet specific hardware requirements to run the title at minimum settings. The baseline configuration demands an Core i7-10700K or Ryzen 5 3600 processor paired with 16GB of RAM. Graphics performance starts with an 2060 SUPER or an AMD Radeon RX 6600, and the developers recommend using an SSD for storage.

Early testing of the open beta revealed mixed results regarding stability and feature completeness. A reviewer reported achieving over 90FPS at native 4K on an RTX 5090, but noted traversal stutters and a broken ray tracing setting during the demo. The final build aims to address these issues, though ray tracing support remains unconfirmed for the launch version.
