This update matters because it restores basic functionality for players using controllers on multiple platforms. Without this fix, users could not navigate menus or select key strategic options during the early game.
Patch restores menu navigation and fixes belief selection errors
The patch, identified as version 1.4.1, targets specific bugs that caused the game to become unresponsive. It resolves issues where the user interface froze when players attempted to select Enhancer Beliefs. It also corrects a problem where Affirmation Traditions failed to appear during the initial faction setup phase.
These fixes apply to builds running on PlayStation, Xbox, Linux, and Steam Deck. The Nintendo Switch version of this patch remains delayed and is not yet available for download. The hotfix stabilizes the broader Update 1.4.1 framework, which previously introduced local hotseat multiplayer support.
The underlying Update 1.4.1 also introduced a five-stage city satisfaction model and adjusted government tradition slots.
